KPOP Top 10 February 2012

Posted: February 29, 2012 in KPOP Jabeen Reviews

Hey guys, welcome to another edition of our Kpop Top 10 for February. Quite a special month as it’s a leap year and what a chart to show that. We finally have the comeback of the much awaited Big Bang, who have not only promised to release a single hit but 6 of them! We also have the comeback of Miss A, Se7en and Block B and also the appearances of some new bands. Without further ado…

10. Exid – Whoz that girl

What a great debut for a girl group! It was strong and fierce which is a nice change from the usual cutesy concepts, even though there has been some backlash as some feel that the rapper is too similar to CL…but is that really a bad thing? I feel more rappers like CL the better, at least then they make a effort to look up to their idol. The song itself was good with other members portraying strong vocals, a good group to look out for.

9. Brave Girls – Nowadays you

Not an extremely popular girl group but Brave Girls so far have created songs that are above standard. The music video and the actual song is actually quite strong, and this is shown through their choreography. The girls have taken quite a manly approach to their costume but do pull it off quite wonderfully. All in all it’s a decent song and we still have higher hopes for these girls.

8. Chocolat – One more Day

Another good song from Choclat, already the girls have matured into young women! It’s nice to see the members sharing the lines more and they all looked stunning. The dance moves with the chairs is very unique as we haven’t really seen that around, they girls showcased very strong vocals and a whole round soft silky song. A shame it couldn’t get higher since other bigger bands are overshadowing them but none the less a nice follow on from their previous tracks.

7. Speed – Lovey Dovey Plus

Although we feel out of love with T-ara due to their continous promotions of the same song, Speed’s take on Lovey Dovey provided a fresh take on the song and was quite addictive to watch. The dancing was strong and completely in sync and the male vocals brought something new to the song. ALthough most of the spotlight was on Hwayoung from T-ara, Speed still manage to pull this song off quite well.

6. Big Bang – Bad Boy

Unfortunately unlike their first track, Blue, their follow up track isn’t quite as strong. Apart from G-Dragon’s hilarious hair-do which he does subtly pull off with his cap and the barely watchable acting from the girls in the MV the song is not actually too bad. The rhythm and beats are quite typical but are catchy and may grow on us later on.

5. Jay Park – Know your name

Jay Park is certainly making his own name in Korea. This song showcased all of his dance moves which were sharp and slick. Jay himself looked very mature with his cool leather jacket matched with Dok2’s fast paced rapping helped make the song more modern. The chorus itself is a very good track, it has a small dance feel to it which is mashed up with Jay’s soft high vocals, its no wonder it is becoming so successful! It was nice to see Jay adding some ethnic feel to the MV that we seem to miss in most kpop songs.

4. Se7en – When I can’t sing/Somebody Else

Finally Se7en is back! One of our favourite solo singers we are glad to have Se7en back and taking the Korean music shows by storm. Winning several awards for his newly released songs we are glad that he is finally back doing what he loves. Yet again Se7en has raised the bar for his dancing and his vocals are still extremely strong in both songs. Both MV’s are beautiful to watch and each song is unique and special in it’s own way.

3. Block B – Nalina

Such an amazing and addictive comeback to be ruined by the whole controvosy -_- Let’s not talk about that and focus on the good music and how manly and sexy the members looked 😉 Zico’s rapping gets better and better, with his cocky smirk to his cute head movements he helped make the MV even more enticing. The song was unbelievably catchy with its strong beats and the bridges leading up to the chorus made the whole song amazing. U- Kwon’s ‘I don’t know but I’m HOT’ had us all lifting up our tops with him 😛 Who knew anyone could pull off the gorilla dance move with such swag XD

2. Miss A – Touch

A beautiful and unique song from these girls. A very strong comeback as the song was filled with powerful vocals and daring choreography. The members looked absoloutely stunning with light make-up contrasting with their black hair, almost making them look angel like 🙂 The song itself is so catchy and automatically has you singing along to it, the dance moves makes it more addicting especially with the artistic MV. We hope Miss A keep up these great consecutive comebacks.

1. Big Bang – Blue

The song that has currently has won medals from Youtube and currently standing at 10 millions views the VVIP’s have gone absolutely crazy over the comeback of Big Bang, and we can’t blame them. The unison of the vocals in the chorus is absolutely amazing and the song overall is extremely addictive, the slow melody along with the MV makes for a brilliant comeback. This is well deserved at the number 1 spot and we are sure this song will continue it’s success once Big Bang get on the stage to finally perform.

Kpop Top 10 January 2012

Posted: January 31, 2012 in KPOP Jabeen Reviews

Hey guys it’s been a whole year since we ‘debuted’ with our kpop blogs and are extremely thankful to all the support that you, as readers, have given to us. We hope that you guys continue to enjoy our blogs and find them useful/helpful ^-^ Onto the topic of kpop, we couldn’t have started the new year in a better way. With an extremely strong top 3, kpop has finally revived itself. With comebacks from several bands and also amazing debuts this month has been a great start…Without further ado, our top 10:

10. Six Bomb – Chicky Chicky Bomb

A new band debuting, but a such a strong debut from B.A.P its inevitable for another rookie band to live up to their standard. The chorus is very catchy even if the song itself doesn’t really make sense it still is a good tune. We still potential in this band as they have strayed away from the typical cutesy concept but instead debuted with a strong attitude, leaving a good powerful impact. Although the MV was very poor the vocals were still good.

9. Sunny Hill – Grasshopper

A really wierd song from Sunny Hill, but then again they are known for their unique concepts 😛 The MV was based on a famous story so we didn’t see much of the band which was a shame since they are not a really well known band. The song itself was unique and not a typical song from kpop, whether thats a good thing is questionable. In our case it was a good thing as it was a new type of song and a nice change from the other kpop songs.

8. Brian Joo – Let This Die

As expected Brian Joo’s voice is so stunning and helped create a great song. The instrumental of the song is soft and melodic and the chorus wasn’t as obvious but it helps the song have a very smooth and r’n’b effect. Brian’s vocals is very soft and paired up with Tiger JK made the song more modern and helped it become more catchy. The MV creeped us out a bit with Brian in a strait jacket but it showed a much more powerful love storyline to help deliver a romantic and sad message.

7. Dal Shalbet – Hit U

Not the best song from Dal Shalbet but still a catchy song. The english pronouciations was not excellent but a bit of engrish is also enjoyable in a kpop song 🙂 The MV itself was amazing and creepy at the same time, the pink blood was so creative and a good way not to get the MV banned. The bridge towards the chorus makes it even more catchy and helps it to stay in your head. The girls have also grown into beautiful women and we hope they continue with this edgy concept.

6. T-ara – Lovey Dovey

How this song got as many awards it has at the moment is beyond both of us. The song is probably the most average song ever made in kpop, hilariously the chorus sounds exactly like ‘roly poly’. Not only is the song not creative it seems it got worse with the cheography, which seemed like an exact copy of 2pm’s I’ll be back and the rest of the moves was copied from LMFAO’s Party Rock. A group of T-ara’s prestige should make a lot more better songs than this, hopefully no more other versions of this MV will be made since 20 minutes is long enough-_-

5. Chaos – She’s Coming

An awesome debut from a new group. This group had a nice retro feel to the song, something very unique for boy bands. The vocals were very strong and surprisingly very deep voiced males XD They had a mixture of nearly every band such as Super Junior, B1A4, Infinite and U – Kiss. The rapping of the group was very postive as well and all together a very good debut. They have a good reception as well so we hope this continues.

4. Nine Muses – News

These girls get better and better every time they make a song. The girls really push forward the edgy concept and it matches them a lot better than some of the rookie already debuted. The MV is very sexy as the girls are dressed in tight beautiful black dresses which changes scene frequently with them surronded by mirrors helping the song to become more edgy and fresh. The song is very catchy and a great track with upbeat background vocals combined with soft vocals. We hope these girls get more recognition in 2012.

3. B.A.P – Warrior

One of the best debuts in the whole of the Kpop industry! B.A.P is going to take the whole of kpop by storm, simply mind blowing. The whole concept was amazing, the creepy bunny DJ to the slick sharp dance movements. Each member had their own style to give to the song giving it a hip hop edge every time, the rapping was one of the best out of all idols thanks to the 15 year old Zelo and Yong Guk, the leader. The vocals were simply amazing and met the catchy beats of the song perfectly. This is definetely one band to look out for in 2012!!

2. Teen Top – Crazy

It was a tough competition between MBLAQ and Teen Top for the top spot but unfortunately Teen Top lost out. But this song just continues to show Teen Top rising strongly through the kpop industry. A perfect track record to their name, Teen Top has yet to produce a bad track. Teaming up with Bravesound, Teen Top has released an extremely powerful MV, song and choreography. With each member finally showing their individual talents, with C.A.P’s addictive rap and Chunji’s strong vocals Teen Top can finally be seen as a strong contender for 2012.

1. Mblaq – This Is War

This is one song completely robbed from its awesomeness. To have T-ara repeatedly stealing their well deserved awards is disgraceful. The song was so damn catchy, the chorus made the whole song completely fantastic. The MV was very powerful from the heart touching storyline of Joon and Thunder fighting over the girl matched the song magically. The cheography was very unique but amazing as expected from boys trained under Rain, we hope Mblaq stop being underrated and deserve the no 1 recognition they deserve!! Mblaq FIGHTING <3!!
